The BIBLE - holy message shining

Yesterday, our Bible study was about its origin. Now here's more about it!

GIVE ME THE BIBLE

-Priscilla J. Owens

Give me the Bible,
star of gladness gleaming,
To cheer the wanderer lone
and tempest tossed,
No storm can hide
that peaceful radiance beaming,
Since Jesus came to seek
and save the lost.

Give me the Bible
when my heart is broken,
When sin and grief
have filled my soul with fear;
Give me the precious words
by Jesus spoken,
Hold up faith's lamp
to show my Savior near.

Give me the Bible,
all my steps enlighten,
Teach me the dangers
of these realms below;
That lamp of safety,
o'er the gloom shall brighten,
That light alone
the path of peace can show.

Give me the Bible-
holy message shining,
Thy light shall guide me
in the narrow way.
Precept and promise,
law and love combining,
'Till night shall vanish in eternal day.

The Origin of the BIBLE
"A Bible Tell All"
Based on the Bible study guide of Pastor Joe Gresham

WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF THE BIBLE?
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.                                                  [2 Peter 1:21]
WHAT DID JESUS CALL GOD'S WORD?
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”                           [John 17:17]
HOW MUCH OF THE BIBLE IS INSPIRED?

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”                                          [2 Timothy 3:16, 17]

WHAT IS GOD'S WORD TO BE TO US?

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”            [Psalm 119:105]

WHY WAS THE BIBLE WRITTEN?

“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”   [Romans 15:4]

WHY WERE THE BIBLE STORIES RECORDED?

“Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”             [1 Corinthians 10:11]

WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE OF THE HOLY BIBLE?

“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”                    [John 20:31]

WHAT ARE WE TO DO WITH THE BIBLE?

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”                   [John 5:39]

HOW ARE WE TO STUDY THE SCRIPTURES?

“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.”                                                           [Isaiah 28:10]

HOW ARE WE TO HANDLE GOD'S WORD?

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”                                      [2 Timothy 2:15]

WHAT DO SOME PEOPLE DO WITH THE BIBLE?

“As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”                            [2 Peter 3:16]

WHAT MUST WE NEVER DO?

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”                                           [2 Peter 1:20]

HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE STUDY THE BIBLE?

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word w  ith all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”                             [Acts 17:11]

WHAT WILL BIBLE STUDY DO FOR US?

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”              [2 Timothy 3:15-17]
WHY IS SCRIPTURE HARD FOR SOME TO UNDERSTAND?

“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
                  [1 Corinthians 2:13, 14]

WHO WILL GUIDE US IN OUR STUDY OF BIBLE TRUTH?

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.”      [John 16:13]

HOW DO WE RECEIVE UNDERSTANDING?

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
                                       [Proverbs 2:1-5]

WHAT IS GOD'S PROMISE TO YOU?

“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
                                   [Luke 11:9]

NOTE: It is most important to pray before studying God's word; not only that God will grant you understanding, but that He will also make your heart willing to receive the truth revealed.

A wonderful Creation

Bible Studies Made Easy!

Months ago, a conference was conducted in Southern Philippines. One of the speakers was Joe Gresham, an ordained minister in Texas. And during one of his lectures, he gave books as rewards to those who were present. Being one of the lucky few who were there, I chose "Bible Study Made Easy" as my reward. For a beginner like me, Bible study guides are (very) helpful.

Please visit this blog as often as possible so we can have our Bible study together.

God Bless!
